This was Patrick's first deployment to Oman in 2001 and he worked with his boss that just retired Col Mark Hobson over there. He just brought this picture home that Col Hobson gave him, so I thought I would share it since Pat is getting ready to deploy again for 6 months this summer.
After we moved here we were comparing stories with Col Hobson and found out he never knew that he diagnosed Pat with typhoid before the medical personnel. Pat got really sick on this deployment over in Oman and had lost 20 pounds but the doctors just kept telling him, he had the flu for 2 weeks. Finally they found his gall bladder was severely infected so they had to remove it. (Yes overseas in a medical tent)
But while Pat was sick Col Hobson called him typhoid Pat and moved his desk far away from the rest of them in the office because they didn't want to catch what he had. Once they removed his gall bladder they tested it to find out what was causing the infection and it was typhus.
Wow, waht a story! We're here for you when he goes. Whatever you need. Hugs!
