Traveling to Utah

We started out on a Friday afternoon and only traveled two hours to Indianapolis, Indiana...so we could stop and see a military friend of Patrick's. It was great to finally meet Stephanie and her son Kyle. We got to spend a few hours at a park before we headed out on our cross country journey.
At the park we meet at, they were having a pet show and Mariah is holding a snake and Mikayla found the kittens. They loved it...of course they asked if we could take them home with us. We said no, it was bad enough traveling with one cat.




We traveled most of the day to Springfield, Illinois to see Abraham Lincoln's family home. We got to tour his historic home. This is where he lived prior to becoming Pres. and mounted his Presidential campaign from this home. It was really neat..We toured the inside and walked around the grounds to look at the historical houses.

We stopped for the night in Hannibal, Missouri...so we had to go tour Mark Twain s boyhood home the next day and see the Mississippi River.

After leaving Hannibal, Missouri, we were on our way to Omaha, Nebraska to see some friends. But on the way the Interstate was closed due to flooding. It has been flooded since June. It was a two hour detour.. We saw a LOT of corn fields that day.On Sunday night we stopped at the Snyder's home for Sunday dinner. They were very kind and invited us over and our friends from Barksdale, LA that live in Omaha also, the Karren family.

And then for the next two days we just traveled and traveled until we got to Utah on Tuesday afternoon on my birthday. Not the most ideal way to spend your birthday but at least we were here...
Then the fun of moving in and getting the kids in school started the very next day...
