Kelly Leavitt Gates, 78, passed away October 26th of a heart attack. He was born January 23, 1932 to Elbert Celton & Fay Leavitt Gates in Santa Clara, UT.
Kelly attended the Santa Clara Elementary School, graduated from Dixie High School, attended Dixie College & graduated from Southern Utah State College in Cedar City. He served a two-year tour of duty in the Army stationed in Hawaii.
While in high school & at Dixie College, Kelly excelled as an athletic in football & basketball. In later years, he enjoyed the members of his softball team & playing in the Senior Games.
He was a co-founder of Sunland Chevrolet & spent much of his life as a successful car salesman in Las Vegas & St. George. Kelly had a pilot's license & enjoyed his own plane.
A great love of his life was hunting & fishing with the Gates family. Kelly & his brother Don & their families gathered several times a year for these events. There are many happy memories. Kelly had many interesting deer stories to tell. Family & friends enjoyed hearing them.
He will be greatly missed.

After the Pallbearers placed their flowers on the casket the grand kids gave Grandpa smarties, since he always had candy (ie bank suckers) for them.
